Ideas For Great Jack-o-Lanterns

Halloween is my favorite holiday and part of the fun is making jack-o-lanterns. In the past, we had to come up with our own ideas for faces and depend on carving skills slowly developed over decades. However, with the internet you can get great jack-o-lantern ideas by quickly scanning websites and blogs and then watch instructional videos to learn through other people’s experience. It’s great!

There is a great page here that has a lot of fun ideas, and photos, to get your creative juices flowing. Some of the pumpkin idea pics you will find include:

  • Vomiting Jack-O-Lanterns
  • Cannibal Pumpkins
  • Stem Nosed Pumpkins
  • Cute Carvings
  • Toothy Jack-O-Lanterns
  • Jack Skellingtons
  • and more...

Once you narrow down the type of pumpkin face you want to carve, the next step is to determine if you have the skills needed to do it. For example, there are a lot of pumpkin face sculptures posted under do it yourself carvings. However, the average person can’t just pick up a pumpkin carving kit, watch a video and then sculpt the president’s face.

Now you are ready to make your own creative creation for the holidays. Use photos on the internet for inspiration,, but don’t be afraid to add your own spin on things. After all, the whole point is to have fun and celebrate Halloween while carving your jack-o-lantern.

A fun part of making jack-o-lanterns is letting each member of the family choose their own pumpkin and make their own design. Parents will often need to help the children along, but it’s fun for each kid to make their own creation and share it with the world.
